Job Title: General Manager, Port Operations & Marine Logistics

Position Overview:As the General Manager, Port Operations & Marine Logistics, you will lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations for our port and terminal facilities. This includes overseeing all aspects of port and terminal management, vessel operations, client relations, and logistics, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of bulk, breakbulk, containerized, and project cargoes. You will be instrumental in driving operational efficiency, optimizing cost control, and ensuring that the company’s goals align with industry standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage port and terminal operations, including container, bulk, and breakbulk cargo management.
Oversee the management of towing operations for offshore FSO, FLNG, FPSO units, and harbor operations.
Drive efficiency by overseeing the vessel planning process, ensuring maximum capacity utilization and slot control.
Develop, implement, and oversee the execution of operational budgets, cost control processes, and ensure profitability.
Supervise all aspects of customer relations, ensuring long-term business relationships are maintained and enhanced.
Ensure all terminal activities meet regulatory and corporate safety standards, achieving Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
Work closely with the commercial and operations teams to ensure seamless coordination of shipping, trucking, and warehousing activities.
Prepare financial reports, analyze operational costs, and recommend improvements to enhance operational profitability.
Manage and supervise personnel including port engineers, technical superintendents, and operations staff.
Oversee vessel audits, inspections (SL Management, Class, Flag, OVID), and ensure compliance with international maritime safety standards.
Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and other service providers to improve operations and maximize efficiency.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nautical Science, Marine Transportation, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in port operations, marine logistics, or related fields, including leadership roles.
Extensive experience in managing terminal operations and maritime logistics, specifically in oil & gas, container, and bulk cargo handling.
Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of vessel planning, port operations, towing operations (offshore/onshore), and project cargo management.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in the maritime and oil & gas sectors.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both English and Spanish.
Strong commercial acumen, with experience in contract management, cost control, and financial reporting.
Ability to develop business opportunities and identify market trends to expand company operations.
Skills & Competencies:
Offshore operations experience (FSO, FLNG, FPSO).
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Experience in project management and cross-functional team collaboration.
Expertise in the logistics of cool chain, fresh product logistics, and heavy-lift cargo operations.
Experience in vessel husbandry, marine surveying, and cargo inspection.
Ability to manage large-scale operational budgets and ensure profitability.
