Job Overview:
As a Mining Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing complex mining operations and projects from initiation to completion. This role includes managing budgets, timelines, resources, and team coordination to ensure the successful execution of mining projects. You will be expected to lead a cross-functional team, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with the company's goals, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale mining projects, with a deep understanding of the technical, logistical, and financial aspects of mining operations. You should have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and sustainability.
Job Requirements:
Experience: At least 8 years of experience in mining project management, with significant exposure to all phases of a project lifecycle (from planning to execution).
Qualifications: A degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is essential. Additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
Skills: Expertise in project management software, strong financial management skills, and advanced knowledge of mining operations. Familiarity with construction, logistics, and procurement processes within the mining industry is crucial.
Languages: Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in French or Arabic being highly advantageous.
Physical Requirements: The role requires managing both office and field operations, and candidates must be able to travel to remote mining sites as needed.
Certifications: Relevant safety and operational certifications, including First Aid, Mine Health and Safety, and environmental management certifications, are preferred.
Additional Experience: Prior experience working in North Africa or similar environments will be considered a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination: Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate the efforts of engineers, procurement teams, and site managers to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Team Management: Lead a team of engineers, contractors, and support staff. Ensure the effective deployment of resources and maintain a productive work environment.
Budget Management: Oversee the financial aspects of mining projects, including cost control, financial reporting, and managing capital expenditure.
Safety and Compliance: Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure that all activities are performed according to the highest standards. Maintain compliance with local and international environmental
regulations and mining laws.
Stakeholder Communication: Regularly report on project progress, issues, and risks to senior management. Coordinate with stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively solve problems related to logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Quality Control: Ensure that all mining activities meet the company’s quality standards. Oversee the inspection and testing of materials and equipment used on-site.
Sustainability: Promote sustainable mining practices, ensuring the preservation of the environment and the well-being of local communities.
Working Conditions:
The position is based in Dubai UAE, with travel required to various mining project sites across the region.
